CAIRO – Egypt’s Mufti Shawqi Allam said on Saturday that the minimum rate of Zakat al-Fitr is LE15 per person this year.
Speaking to MENA, Allam said the rate of Zakat al-Fitr is equivalent to the price of 2.5 kg of grain per person.
Allam stressed the necessity of giving out Zakat al-Fitr before Eid prayers to gain its reward and allow the needy to benefit from it.
Zakat al-Fitr is a charity paid to the poor from the beginning of the holy fasting month of Ramadan till before Eid prayers.
