Egypt’s Mufti adviser Ibrahim Negm left here on Tuesday for Washington to expound Dar Al Iftaa experiment in combating extremist thought during a meeting for the US Foreign Relations Council which gathers religious scholars and top officials from countries with a majority of Muslims.

In statements before departure, Negm said his participation in the US Foreign Relations Council meeting is very important as it comes within the context of co-operation and consolidation among all parties concerned with combating extremist thoughts, noting that the whole world has become greatly threatened by such malicious thoughts of terrorism.

He also asserted that the meeting coincides with Dar Al Iftaa preparations for holding the first international conference for Salam Centre for Studies of Extremism on confronting religious extremism under the auspices of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on June 7-9.

The conference will be attended by representatives of the UNSC, the European Commission, the Arab League and a number of ministers, executive leaders, muftis and figures of media from 42 countries.

The conference aims at bringing forward scientific initiatives that support combating extremism and boosting co-operation and coordination between the institutions in the fields of terrorism and extremism.
