Egyptian Transport Minister Kamel el-Wazir on Wednesday met with Kazakhstan Ambassador to Egypt Khairat Lama Sharif to discuss further co-operation in transport.
The ambassador stressed his country’s keenness to enhance joint co-operation in maritime transport in order to increase trade exchange by transporting goods from Kazakhstan by rail as Egypt is the gateway to Africa.
Kazakhstan is also interested in co-operation in rail transport, Sharif said.
The minister pointed out the possibilities of further investment in seaports.
In view of recent railway development in Egypt, co-operation would be welcome in establishing a workshop for building locomotives and rolling stock, which would serve as a model for joint co-operation.
The two sides agreed to further meetings between specialists from the two ministries to discuss aspects of co-operation and to develop a final draft of a memorandum of understanding to this end.
