CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tariq el-Molla said Monday that Egypt works on adopting an appropriate energy plan that paves the way for full transformation into clean energy.

In statements issued by the ministry, Molla said that the oil sector co-operates with foreign companies to draw up integrated plans and solutions to the problems of energy and gas emissions in parallel with the production of fossil fuel production especially natural gas.

The statement was issued during a ministerial session themed “supporting international recovery through sustainable energy” within the framework of the activities of the international conference for oil technology 2022 held in Saudi Arabia from February 21 through 23 with the participation of the ministers of energy and oil of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait and Iraq.

The minister said that Egypt drew up several years ago a strategic plan for energy lasting till 2033 to increase the new and renewable energy to 41 per cent in 2030.

He said 20 per cent of solar and wind energy are produced in Egypt so far, as well as hydroelectricity, adding that a nuclear power station is being built.
