The Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) “Mohab Mamish,” the largest in the Middle East, has joined the Suez Canal Authority’s fleet after its arrival on board the heavy load carrier “XIANG RUI KOU”, SCA Chairman Osama Rabie announced Monday.
A joint working group, including engineers from the SCA’s dredging department and the Dutch Royal IHC, undertook the operation of the giant dredger in the Great Bitter Lakes area in Ismailia, he said.
He added that the SCA’s Baraka 1, Musaed 2, Musaed 3 and Mosaheb 2 tugboats helped in the landing and floating operation of the newly-built dredger, which was towed to the workshop zone next to the Maritime Navigation and Guidance Center for more technical checks.
Rabei indicated that the authority has taken all measures necessary for navigating the ship safely, foremost among which was the designation of a group of senior guides, the provision of necessary navigational aids and live follow-up from the main traffic tower.
The “Mohab Mamish” dredger began its journey last week on its way to Ismailia, with an SCA’s multi-departmental team of engineers and technicians on board, to closely follow up the operation requirements.
