The funeral of prominent Egyptian journalist and interviewer Mofeed Fawzy was held on Sunday afternoon at Saint Mary Church in Cairo’s Zamalek district.

The service was attended by a number of priests and his family, as well as a galaxy of media personnel, journalists and public figures.

Head of the National Press Authority (NPA) Abdel Sadeq el Shorbagy was present in the funeral.

Fawzy’s family will receive condolences at Saint Mary Church on Monday evening.

The health of the late journalist had recently deteriorated and he was transferred to the hospital, where he underwent surgery, but his condition deteriorated further.

Fawzy is well- nown for hosting several TV programs, most notably Hadith Al-Madina (Talk of the Town) for nearly 26 years.

Over his career, Fawzy also interviewed many prominent actors, singers, and writers including the veteran novelist Naguib Mahfouz.

Fawzy was also the editor-in-chief of Sabah Al-Kheir (Good Morning) magazine published by Rose Al-Yūsuf.
