CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Ahmed Morsi asserted his keenness on periodically following up the projects carried out by the ministry as part of preparations for Egypt’s hosting the UN Climate Conference (COP27), due to be held in Sharm El Sheikh in November.
In statements on Wednesday, Morsi explained that he is following up the production of the first-ever Egyptian electric buses named “SetiBus” which are manufactured through cooperation between the privately-owned MCV company and “Factory 200 Military” to carry Egypt’s guests during the conference.
Morsi clarified that 60 percent of the new buses’ design was made by Egyptian engineers, and that the exterior and interior of the skeleton were manufactured in Egyptian factories. Those include windows, tires, chairs, fibers, and the metal body.
The Ministry of State for Military Production announced in June 2021 finishing the production of the first locally made electric bus in collaboration with Manufacturing Commercial Vehicles Co. (MCV), a private firm that has been producing buses for 25 years.
The minister also said that the ministry is cooperation with South Sinai governorate to carry out the central park project in Sharm El Sheikh city ahead of COP27, which he described as a vital facade for the Red Sea city and would contribute to its turning to a green city.
Meanwhile, Military Production Ministry Media Adviser Mohamed Eid Bakr said the government is in race against time to end all preparations for the UN conference which will address means of implementing projects and pledges made during Glasgow summit, especially those pertaining to climate change and other files of top priority.
