The Egyptian Finance Minister, Mohamed Maeet, pledged  continued support to Korean companies operating in Egypt.

Addressing a forum organized by the Korean Embassy in Cairo on the Egyptian government’s business policies for Korean companies, the minister described the event as a ‘fruitful’ opportunity for easing the operation of Korean companies in Egypt.

The meeting, attended by a host of Finance Ministry officials and Korean Ambassador to Cairo, Hong Jin-wook, aimed to shed light on Egypt’s economic reforms and the policies it pursues to attract foreign investments.

It also aimed to discuss the support required for the operation of Korean companies in Egypt.

A host of Korean officials, including from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, and Korea International Co-operation  Agency, along with representatives of Korean companies operating in Egypt, attended the forum.

Minister Maeet thanked the Korean ambassador for hosting the meeting.

“It [the meeting] is important for boosting bilateral economic ties between our two countries,” the minister said.

He underscored his keenness to support Korean companies and solve the problems they face.

The government, the minister said, aspires to attract more Korean investments.

He added that these investments would contribute to the creation of jobs and increase the volume of exports.

“Egypt will continue to communicate closely with the Korean embassy and Korean companies, and offer all the support needed to help Korean companies operating in Egypt,” Minister Maeet said.

Ambassador Hong praised the government for supporting and working to solve the problems of Korean companies.

The best way to stimulate Korean investments in Egypt, he said, is to showcase the success stories of Korean companies currently operating in the country.

He called for maintaining the government’s active support to companies to stabilize their business and operation in Egypt.

Ambassador Hong also noted that yesterday’s meeting, which comes almost a year after a similar meeting was held in Cairo, is a significant opportunity that brings together all key players who lead bilateral economic co-operation between Egypt and Korea.
