Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir asserted that his ministry was keen on enhancing co-operation with Environment Ministry to achieve comprehensive industrial development and meet the environmental standards needed at the various industrial facilities to cope up with the national and international environmental directives.
These remarks were made during a meeting between Samir and Environment Minister Samir Fouad to review the files of common interest between the two ministries as well as preparations for hosting the UN Climate Conference (COP27), due to be held in Sharm El Sheikh in November.
In statements following the meeting, Samir said the UN Climate Summit provides a good chance for reviewing the state’s efforts to support the green economy transition in the various productive and service sectors, decrease the carbon emissions and counter the negative impact of global warming.
He said the agenda of the event allocated to the Egyptian industry at COP27 is about to be finalised, noting that an exhibition for the Egyptian industrial products will be held in the green zone, in addition to launching a special initiative for the African states working in the fields of clean and renewable energy and recycling.
