Egyptian Minister of Environment Yasmin Fouad said on Tuesday that Egypt succeeded during the climate changed conference (COP27) in Sharm el-Sheikh to reach deals worth 15 billion dollars through “Nouwfi” programme for financing and investing in climate projects in the water, food and energy sectors to finance projects especially in energy, food and water domains.

During a meeting of the House of Representatives’ African Affairs Committee under MP Sherif El Gabaly, head of the Chemical Industries Chamber, the minister said that Egypt managed to get the votes of African countries to present the file of the conference despite the challenges the country faced before hosting the UN-sponsored gathering.

She said the natural protectorate in Sharm el-Sheikh and roads leading to them have been developed, expressing the country’s keenness on implementing environmental projects.

The minister added that the number of COP27 participants reached 50,000 against 36,000 in Glasgow conference due to the development and the well preparations made before holding the Sharm conference.

She pointed out to the directives of the president of the Republic on the importance of making the green zone of the conference accommodate all all youth and civil society members.
