CAIRO – Egyptian State Military Production Minister Mohamed Ahmed Morsi has discussed with Chairman of the Board of Directors Green Tech Egypt Robert Falk, OAK Group Holdings Chief Executive Gareth Brown along with a delegation from Renergy Group Partners the establishment of a station to convert waste into electrical energy in Abu Rawash area in Giza governorate.
The meeting comes as part of a four-way protocol agreement signed in September 2021 between the Ministries of Military Production and Local Development and Environment to discuss issues related to allocating Abu-Rawash site for implementing the project, according to the minister.
This came also upon directives issued by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to ministries concerned in order achieve maximum benefit from the new solid waste system, the minister added.
The minister, meanwhile, said that an approval was made, according to presidential directives, to start implementing the first phase of projects to convert waste energy into electrical energy in eight governorates.
The implementation of this project contributes significantly to finding sustainable and immediate solutions with regard to the conversion of solid waste into smart energy solution, he added.
He also pointed out to the ministry’s efforts to employ all the industrial, technological and human capabilities in order to implement major national projects, which contribute to improving the citizen’s living.
He also pointed out to the exceptional circumstances that the world has been going through for two years due to the Coronavirus, which increases anticipation regarding potential damage to economic activities, global financial markets and international supply chains that have not yet fully recovered from these exceptional circumstances that affected global economy.
Chairman of the Board of Directors Green Tech Egypt Robert Falk, for his part, affirmed the importance of boosting co-operation with all the ministries concerned in order to implement the project, which contributes to applying the new system for managing municipal solid waste in the various governorates.
The project contributes to improving the citizen’s quality of life, he went on to say.
OAK Group Holdings Chief Executive Gareth Brown, for his part, said that the Egyptian government is keen on bringing in expertise and special technologies to waste treatment plants and convert them into energy in cooperation with the private sector.
He also praised the role of the Military Production Ministry in implementing the municipal solid waste management system in light of its extensive experience in this sphere.
The ministry’s spokesman Mohamed Eid Bakr said that cooperation with the Renergy Group Partners came as part of the ministry’s keenness on transferring modern technologies in the various fields of manufacturing to its companies.
The implementation of this type of projects aims to deepen local manufacturing, increase the added value, reduce import and provide foreign currency to enhance the national economy, he added.
