State Minister for Military Production Mohamed Salah Eddin Moustafa stressed the ministry’s belief in the importance of integration with local and international private sector in various manufacturing domains.

This is clearly shown in the ministry’s engagement in several partnerships with international and local private sector companies for implementing major national development projects that support strategies for comprehensive and sustainable development.

He made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the Saudi company Middle East Tasks Company (METCO) and representatives of the international company Smiths Detection, the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

The meeting tackled means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of producing security detection equipment, the minister said, reviewing technological, manufacturing and technical capabilities of the military production companies.

The ministry’s key role is catering for the needs of the Armed Forces and contributing to national development projects, he said.

He noted that Benha Electronic Co. (Military Factory 144) – which is affiliated to the ministry – works in manufacturing security gates, hand-held detectors and x-ray luggage scanners.

He stressed the ministry’s interest in localizing several industries in its affiliated companies in collaboration with various international companies, while benefiting from available national resources.

Meanwhile, the head of the delegation lauded the development Egypt is witnessing in various domains over the past years, despite being affected by the international economic crisis.

He extolled the capabilities and expertise of the military production companies and the pioneering role played by the ministry in supporting the state plan for realizing sustainable and comprehensive development.
