State Minister for Military Production Mohamed Salaheldin Moustafa said that the municipal solid waste (MSW) management system is based on developing and equipping the necessary infrastructure at the level of all governorates through three phases.
This came during his meeting with Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad and Local Development Minister Hisham Amna at the headquarters of the Military Production Ministry in the New Administrative Capital.
During the meeting, the military Production announced the completion of the first phase of the system, saying the construction of four new waste recycling factories was completed, and the efficiency in six waste recycling lines and four first sorting stations in the various governorates has been increased.
The initial delivery was made to “El Mahalla El-Kubra” factory in Gharbiya governorate to produce fertilizer, organic and alternative fuel, with a capacity of 20 Ton/Hr, said the minister.
The initial delivery to the “Dar El Salam” factory in Sohag governorate to produce organic fertilizer and alternative fuel, with a capacity of 20 Ton/Hr, and the “Tuna el-Gebel” factory for waste recycling in Minya governorate has also been completed, and the “Dafra” factory is being delivered in Gharbia governorate, the minister added.

The design of the waste recycling line “Mustaqbal-1”, with a capacity of 20 Ton/Hr, has been completed, and coordination has been made with a consultant from the Environment Ministry to reach an Egyptian product for this line “Mustaqbal-1”, a final agreement was made to begin its implementation, and the design of the waste recycling line “Mustaqbal-2”, with a capacity of 40 Ton/Hr, was finalized.
Within the framework of the second phase, work was carried out to improve the efficiency in sorting stations in South Sinai governorate in El-Tur, Abu Redis, and Ras Sidr.
This meeting comes to discuss developments related to the implementation of infrastructure projects for the MSW management system in a number of governorates.
It will also review progress made so far to implement the project to establish a production line for waste recycling in Shabramant city, and the waste-to-energy station that involves the use of municipal solid waste (MSW) in the Abu Rawash area in Giza governorate, with a capacity of 1,200 Ton/day, to produce electricity (30 megawatts per hour), as per President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to develop and implement a system for integrated management of MSW and work to ensure its sustainability.
He further noted that Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly is following up on the implementation of these projects, which take place within the framework of the MSW management system and the assignments given to all concerned parties to carry out these projects so that citizens feel a qualitative change in this important file.
