Egyptian Military Production Minister Mohamed Salaheldin Moustafa had a meeting on Tuesday with Armenian Minister of High-Tech Industry Robert Khachatryan to discuss enhancing bilateral co-operation with a view to getting acquainted with the up-to-date military manufacturing technologies.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the third edition of Egypt Defense Expo “EDEX 2023”, held at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre in Cairo from December 4 to 7.
During the meeting, the two sides asserted the depth of ties between the two countries, thanks to efforts exerted by the political leaderships in both countries in this regard.
The Egyptian-Armenian ties witnessed a remarkable progress. In January 2023, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi visited Armenia, while Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturian participated in the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP27), which was held in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh in November 2022.
The Minister of State for Military Production reviewed his ministry’s capabilities in the area of military manufacturing.
The Military Production Ministry’s key role is to meet the needs and demands of the Egyptian Armed Forces and police in terms of weapons, equipment and ammunition, he said, adding that the surplus production capacity is used to manufacture civilian products and in national and development projects in the country.
For his part, Minister Khachatryan said that 13 Armenian companies working in the field of defense industries are participating in EDEX 2023 exhibition.
The two sides also agreed on exchanging visits by technical delegations and experts to promote cooperation between the two sides.
