CAIRO – State Minister for Military Production Mohamed Salaheddin Mostafa and Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad inaugurated on Sunday a factory for producing eco-friendly paperboard products from banana fiber in the Armored Production and Repair Factory (Military Factory 200), which is one of the factories of the ministry.
In the inauguration ceremony, the military production minister said that the inauguration and operation of the factory is the fruit of ongoing cooperation between the ministry and Australian company BABIRUS to produce eco-friendly food packaging boxes through an integrated system to make use of the banana waste.
The system was applied in two phases, he said, adding BABIRUS will purchase, locally market and export the production from the military production ministry.
The inauguration ceremony comes as part of the ministry’s celebration of its 70th anniversary.
Mostafa asserted the ministry’s keenness on supporting efforts of the Egyptian state to boost the role of the private sector to participate in attaining sustainable, industrial development in accordance with directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
The environment minister emphasized the move is part of efforts to transfer and localize modern environmental technology used in green industries and waste recycling.
