CAIRO – Former Assistant Foreign Minister Hussein Haridi said on Sunday the military confrontations between Israel and Iran are carried out at the expense of the stability of Arab countries and Arab national security.
Speaking to MENA, Haridi said the Iranian response to the Israeli attack on its consulate in Syria was not a surprise for the US, Israel and some countries but was expected.
He said peoples of Arab countries pay dearly for these military confrontations, expressing concern over ramifications of these developments on the situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
He warned that Tehran attack on Tel aviv gave sufficient excuses to the Netanyahu government to carry on with its flagrant aggression on the Palestinian, Syrian and Lebanese territories at the pretext that it poses a threat to security of Israel.
He called on the US, which offers all forms of assistance to Israel, to end the military escalation in the region and shoulder its responsibility, as a superpower, to safeguard international security and stability.
