Treatment for 3,524,000 patients nationwide was provided free of charge throughout 2022 at a cost of LE14.5 billion, an official statement said.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said treatment for certain cancers, ENT, skin complaints and neurological disorders was given at state expense.
As for Covid-19, Dr Hossam Hosni, who is chairman of the scientific committee to combat corona at the Ministry of Health and Population, said the epidemiological situation is “completely stable”.
“No new variants of the virus have been detected and the latest mutation that has emerged in China has not been detected in Egypt,” Hosni said.
“While more vaccinations are being made available for coronavirus and flu, recently detected variants are rapidly spreading, but are less dangerous,” Hosni added.
