Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el-Qabbag urged the governorates on Monday to maintain a state of maximum preparedness inside crisis rooms nationwide in anticipation of unstable weather and the rainy season.
The minister also ordered the officials in municipalities and city councils nationwide to take all precautionary measures to protect life and property from torrential rain and floods with the onset of winter.
The ministry is to spend LE120 million on crisis rooms this year and form an aid work team in preparation for the winter season.
Torrential rains have been deadly several times in recent years, causing buildings to collapse.
The minister urged people to be careful while walking along flooded streets as many citizens have been electrocuted.
