Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Rania Mashat underlined the government’s keenness on securing all needed support for Japanese companies and foreign investments in general to promote their presence in Egypt and opening vistas for the private sector’s participation in various economic activities.
She made the remarks during a meeting on Wednesday with Hiroumi Ohara, General Manager Africa Power and Infrastructure Department of Toyota Tsusho and officials of the company.
The meeting tackled the company’s future expansion plans after working in Egypt for over 90 years.
This came on the fringe of Mashat’s visit to Japan on the 70th anniversary of launching development cooperation between the two sides.
Mashat reviewed the government’s efforts to improve the investment climate, bolster sustainable and comprehensive growth, and promote stability of macro-economy despite of regional tension and international challenges.
The minister commended the significant efforts exerted by the company in the field of renewable energy and vehicles as well as its role in investing in renewable energy stations, including the Gulf of Suez wind plant and Ras Ghareb wind station.
She noted that the company contributes to managing the recently launched Ro-Ro line which aims to connect Egypt with Italy via a green corridor in order to transform Egypt into a regional hub for transportation, logistics, transit trade.
