Egypt’s Minister of International Cooperation Rania El Mashat asserted the depth of Egyptian-Uzbek ties, noting that Cairo is looking forward to more joint action and underlined the importance of the Egyptian-Uzbek Business Forum and the roundtable of Egyptian companies which aim at beefing up trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

This came during Mashat’s participation in the roundtable held under the chairmanship of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev following the end of the proceedings of the Egyptian-Uzbek Business Forum which comes as part of the first official visit by the Uzbek leader to Egypt.

During the roundtable, Mashat reviewed special arrangements for holding the 7th round of the Joint Egyptian-Uzbek Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Tashkent by the end of 2023 under the chairmanship of International Cooperation Ministry from the Egyptian side and the ministries of investment and industry from the Uzbek side.

Mashat reviewed means of increasing investment cooperation between the two sides and establishment of joint projects with Egyptian and Uzbek capitals, noting that the coming phase would witness an exchange of meetings to address cooperation details.

She also said the roundtable crowns the work of the Egyptian-Uzbek Business Forum which involved a galaxy of businessmen from both sides in the sectors of electronics, industry, tourism, pharmaceutical industry and electric equipment.

The roundtable also witnessed the signing of seven trade agreements in the field of pharmaceutical industries and electronics as well as enhancement of trade and investment cooperation, she added.

The Uzbek ambassador in Cairo, ministers from both sides as well as a large number of businessmen and representatives of the private sector attended the roundtable.
