CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Emigration and Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram asserted that the political leadership is keen on following up the developments of the Ukrainian crisis round the clock and providing all possible facilitation to bring home Egyptian students in Ukraine and secure their future.
This came during the minister’s participation in the meeting of Coordination of Parties Youth and Politicians (CPYP) under lawmaker Tareq El Kholy to discuss the repercussions of the Ukrainian-Russian crisis on Egypt and the return of Egyptian students fleeing the war.
She asserted that Egypt has dealt with the crisis professionally, praising the efforts of the political leadership in managing the various crises facing Egyptians abroad especially those who were stranded in Ukraine and President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to immediately bring them home.
The minister made it clear that the meeting of the Ukraine crisis management has devised all possible scenarios to protect the lives and future of the Egyptians there, highlighting the role of the Egyptian communities in the countries surrounding Ukraine whether in Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia to secure transportation means for the transfer of Egyptians from the most dangerous areas.
She said as many as 6,000 Egyptians, half of them youths, have been living in Ukraine whether for study, work or they are married to Ukrainians.
The minister also commended cooperation of the ministries of foreign affairs, aviation and interior who worked hard to ensure the safety and protection of Egyptian evacuees and settling their problems.
As per the last batch of evacuees, the minister stressed that work is going on with all parties concerned and with all diplomatic means to bring them home, voicing hope that the third round of Ukrainian-Russian talks could reach an agreement to secure safe exits for all foreigners including the Egyptians.
