The first African medical exhibition and conference (Africa Health ExCon) is to be held June 5-7 this year under the auspices of the President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
This announcement by the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply and Technology Management (UPA) came in a press conference on Wednesday.
During the press conference, the UPA highlighted the agenda for the event, participating government institutions and its aims and objectives.
UPA chief Doctor Bahaa Eddin Zeidan said Egypt’s interest in developing and reforming health is one of the mainstays of Egypt Vision 2030 and the third goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Plan for 2030, namely “Good Health and Prosperity.”
The Egyptian government’s vision comes in the context of the African Union’s agenda, which stressed that health care is a priority for African leaders, Zeidan said.
The AU agenda is a blueprint for the economic and social transformation of the continent by accelerating past and current initiatives for growth and development, Zeidan added.
Egypt adopts an integrative policy with all African brothers through building partnerships and institutional integration to face the common challenges and risks facing Africans, he said in reference to co-operation to improve access to health care.
The venue for the exhibition will be the Egyptian Exhibition Centre, New Cairo. The exhibition will cover a full range of medical matters from pharmaceuticals to medical insurance.
