Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has reaffirmed the government’s close and continuous oversight of the Warraq Island new urban development, stressing the need to speed up implementation in order to deliver the transformative vision for the area and unlock its full economic, touristic, and social potential.
During a meeting held yesterday with Housing Minister Eng. Sherifel-Sherbiny, Madbouliunderscored the state’s firm commitment to completing all development works according to approved plans and timelines. He also emphasised the importance of decisively addressing any encroachments or informal construction within the island’s boundaries, Cabinet Spokesman Mohamed el-Homsany reported.
The meeting reviewed progress across the project’s components, including compensation disbursement to Warraq residents under the various available options, as well as ongoing utilities and infrastructure works.
According to the updates presented, work is progressing within the project’s urgent phase, which features the construction of 94 residential towers comprising 4,092 housing units. The phase also includes a comprehensive package of public services, such as a service centre, primary and secondary school, youth facilities, commercial centres, nursery, and a family healthcare unit.
Discussions during the meeting also covered the design and planning steps for creating a touristic promenade along the Nile Corniche and developing a distinctive central park within the new urban district—initiatives aligned with the state’s vision to provide open, vibrant recreational spaces for residents and visitors alike.
