Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli asserted that Egypt will do its utmost to support reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip as per directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The premier pointed out to the great potentials of Egyptian companies and their ability to participate in the reconstruction efforts in the strip.

Madbouli’s remarks came while receiving Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohamed Mostafa at the cabinet’s premises on Thursday.

The meeting discussed the current conditions in the Gaza Strip and was attended by several ministers from both sides.

Madbouli reiterated Egypt’s firm support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right of self determination and of setting up an independent state within June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Madbouli referred to Egypt’s rejection, which was announced by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, of any proposal regarding the displacement of the Palestinians from their land.

Egypt intends to cooperate with different regional and international partners for the reconstruction of Gaza and achievement of the Palestinian interests to unify the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in a way that supports efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state, said Madbouli.

For his part, Mostafa said he is appreciating efforts Egypt has been exerting to back the Palestinian cause and to ensure the safe delivery of humanitarian support to the Palestinians.

He said he is appreciating remarks by President Sisi about supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He as well conveyed his appreciation of the international support in this regard.

The meeting discussed efforts exerted by the Palestinian Authority (PA) to assess the destruction caused by the war in the Gaza Strip and needs of reconstruction in coordination with several international institutions.

Mostafa asserted the Palestinian government will cooperate with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to offer its services to Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip
