Egypt’s Finance Minister Mohamed Maait has discussed with Malaysian Deputy Finance Minister Ahmad Maslan ways of boosting economic cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the two sides also tackled means to enhance joint efforts, exchange diverse experiments, probe opportunities to hold free trade agreement to facilitate export movement, and increase trade exchange during the upcoming phase between the two countries.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of their participation in the activities of the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Saudi Arabia.
Maait, meanwhile, hailed the historical ties binding the two countries, adding that Egypt is keen on holding joint agreement between the two countries’ finance ministries to exchange expertise, discuss economic conditions, and probe the double taxation agreement between the two countries.
He further underlined the need of doubling investments in the promising sectors in the two countries, atop of which are petroleum, gas, medical equipment, and communications and IT.
For his part, the Malaysian official hailed the relentless efforts exerted by Egypt to enhance the various economic activities.
Malaysia looks forward to promoting cooperation with Egypt in several spheres, including education, tourism, renewable energy and medical equipment, he further said.
