CAIRO – Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva Thursday said that the UN doesn’t possess enough power to halt the Israeli escalation in the Gaza Strip.
“Israel’s behaviour has no explanation: with the pretext of fighting Hamas, it is killing women and children, in an unprecedented matter in the world,” he said during a joint press conference with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi at Al Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo.
“There is no explanation for the Israeli response to Hamas attack on October, 7.”
The Brazilian president called for abolishing the Veto power that is used by several countries, in order to enable the UN to assume its role regarding the unfolding events in Gaza.
He underscored that Israel violates all resolutions adopted by the UN.
He, meanwhile, hailed the Egyptian role regarding the situation in Gaza, saying that Egypt has provided several forms of support for the Brazilian embassy during the evacuation operation of its staffers from Gaza.
