President of Tanta University Professor Mahmoud Zaki added that the university has started to switch to electronic systems for educational, research and administrative tasks as the first steps for digitisation and financial inclusion.
The university has accelerated steps to complete digitization by providing the main data centre with 12 servers, supported with storage units and integrated with data security and backup systems.
Memory units have thus been increased by 400 percent, Zaki said, adding that all the university facilities are connected by fibre-optic cables as part of a cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The speed of the IT network has been increased from 200 Mbps to 500 Mbps in a bid to increasing the quantity of quality e-services for students and staff on research, educational and training platforms.
