Silo storage capacity in Egypt has been increased from 1.2 million tons in 2014 to 3.4 million tons in 2022 in order to reduce waste along the wheat value chain, which at one stage was 10 per cent.
This statement by Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Minister Ali el-Moselhy came in his speech to the 2nd annual conference of the Chamber of Food Industries, themed ‘Sustainability and increasing investment in the food industries’ late Monday.
The Covid-19 pandemic and war in Ukrainian crisis brought out in sharp relief the imbalance in the global food security, the minister said.
El-Moselhy went on to say that during his recent visit to Italy he noticed the link between food industries and the agricultural plan.
