Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, the president-designate of the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Summit (COP27) will arrive in Bonn later Sunday on a visit to the UN headquarters there, as part of ongoing preparations for the COP27 meeting, to be held in Egypt in November 2022.
Foreign Ministry Spoeksman Ambassador Ahmed Hafez said Shoukry will visit the headquaters of the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and hold talks with senior UN officials.
The visit is also meant to drum up international support to render the upcoming event a success, building up on the outcome of the Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) held in Glasgow, UK in Oct. 2021, added the spokesman.
All drives are meant to promote international efforts to face climate change, especially as regards curbing the negative impact of climate change-related issues, adapting to posed challenges, as well as providing required finances for addressing them, according to the spokesman.
