Top students in South Sinai Governorate are to be given university scholarships.

Ten free scholarships at the British University in Egypt (BUE) will go to the highest scorers in Thanawiyya Amma (General Secondary Certificate) and 14 at el-Shorouk Academy. Two women from the Bedouin community also won two scholarships.

South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda and Farida Mohamed Khamis, chairman of the board of trustees of the BUE met to discuss how South Sinai could benefit from the BUE in scientific research into solar power and underground water management.

Fouda suggested the holding of seasonal fairs at the BUE to display handicrafts by Bedouin women as part of the efforts to empower women and preserve Bedouin heritage.
