CAIRO- Egyptian Presidential Advisor for Health Affairs Dr. Awad Tag el-Din said the political leadership is exerting painstaking efforts to obtain and locally manufacture the coronavirus vaccine for the benefit of Egyptian citizens.
In a phone contact with Massa DMC TV program Wednesday, the presidential health advisor said Egypt has signed a contract to obtain 26 million doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
He added that the health sector in Egypt witnessed a momentum leap, citing Egyptian medics’ dealing skillfully and facing up to the coronavirus pandemic.
The political leadership is exerting strenuous efforts to ramp out the health sector and equip it with the most up-to-date advances and trends in the health domain, said the health official.
Tag el-Din referred to the establishment of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical supply and technology Management (AUPP), with the aim of securing the country’s needs of the most updated technologies in the health sector, with a view to offering high-quality health services.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is following, on daily basis, all state-floated health initiatives through detailed reports featuring all work achieved on the ground, he said.
He also referred to ‘100 Million Healthy Lives’; an initiative launched by the president to detect and control Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) including: diabetes and high blood pressure, for their major health risks.
Tag el-Din also referred to the prior attention President Sisi attaches to women’s health through campaigns encouraging early detection of tumors and treating them and the State’s expense.
