Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inspected on Friday a number of road and corridor projects in Giza governorate. The new projects are part of a comprehensive road development plan in Greater Cairo, which comprises Cairo, Giza and Qaliubia.
The plan is aimed at easing traffic congestion, caused by overpopulation.
The plan is designed according to the world’s state-of-the art standards to minimise accidents and reduce economic losses.
The projects in Giza include the development of existing key roads and axes as well as the construction of new ones at a total length of 177 km. The objective is to ease movement and put an end to traffic jams in a bid to reduce pollution, fuel consumption and heat emissions.
