CAIRO –Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired a meeting on Thursday to review the development plan of Al Fustat park area in Old Cairo district in the presence of the consulting office’s officials.
During the meeting, the officials of the consulting office presented the draft development plan of the area which is titled “Al-Fustat hills,” pointing out that the project depends on designing a main public park with a view of a number of archaeological and historical sites, turning the area into a regional and international tourist destination.
Several leisure activities will be offered as part of the project that will be a home for many traditional industries that are related to the historical area with an aim to revive the site’s heritage, the officials added.
The strategic objective of the project is creating the largest green “breathing space” in Cairo, the officials said, highlighting the major roads and entrances of the park as well as the main attractions in the surrounding area and proposals for linking between these sites and the park.
At the end of the meeting, the premier said Al-Fustat development project comes in line with the State’s efforts to upgrade the heritage sites in Cairo to help lure more tourists as per President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives in this regard.
Madbouli asserted the importance of developing a good road network to serve the project.
