The National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) carried out 93 inspections for monitoring and regulating foodstuff factories nationwide within the past week and registered 6 facilities with the authority, NFSA’s media centre said in its 27th weekly report issued on Sunday.
The Regulatory Department made 19 examination, inspection and approval visits to food packaging and distribution centers to guarantee optimum level of protection for the consumer against any risks and compliance with food safety requirements.
Some 363 export permits were also issued for exporting various agricultural products.
NFSA was established in 2017 under Law no.1 of 2017, according to article (3) of the Law, its objective is to “fulfill the requirements of food safety to preserve health and safety of humans”.
Given that the registration of food facilities with the NFSA is now mandatory, the process has become much easier with the government’s recent measures.
