Egypt’s Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Ayman Ashour stressed the importance of international cooperation to back the State’s development efforts in the fields of education and scientific research.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Higher Education Ministry underlined the ministry’s success in organising the second edition of the Scientific Francophonie Week in October, under the sponsorship of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
The event was organised by the Ministry, in cooperation with the Francophone University Association (AUF: Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie), with the participation of a number of ministers, experts and universities’ presidents.
It also underlined the signing of the first manifesto on the Francophonie scientific diplomacy, which aims at enhancing cooperation among Francophonie states and organizing future relations among universities.
In September, the National Strategy for Intellectual Property was launched in line with President Sisi’s directives, it further noted.
Also, Cairo University, in co-operation with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), organised the scientific dialogue with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Dr. Darren Tang.
The Higher Education Ministry also participated in the first Ministerial Conference of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) on Research and Innovation, which was organized by the French Scientific Research Ministry. The meeting adopted roadmaps on three priorities relative to research and innovation, namely health, renewable energy and climate change.
