THE formulation of a strategy for economic empowerment in villages was considered during an inter-departmental meeting today, a statement by the Planning and Economic Development Ministry said.
Participating in the meeting held via videoconferencing were Planning and Economic Development Minister Dr. Hala el-Saeed, Environment Minister Dr. Yasmine Fouad, National Council for Women Chairwoman Maya Morsi and the chiefs of a number of banks and financing companies.
Discussions during the meeting focused on defining the modalities for financing small and micro projects in villages to be developed in the next stage of the Hayah Karima (Decent Life) presidential initiative, the Planning ministry’s statement said.
Stressing the importance of the economic empowerment component of the presidential initiative, Planning Minister el-Saeed called for defining the mechanisms for the provision of decent work opportunities and financing appropriate projects in villages, the statement added.
For her part, Hala El-Said stressed the importance of the economic empowerment component and the provision of decent work opportunities within the components of the presidential initiative “A Decent Life”.
She also asserted the need to develop mechanisms to finance appropriate projects for each village, take into account the competitive advantage in each rural community, benefit from past experiences, and coordinate according to what is happening on the ground of initiatives. It is carried out by partner ministries and destinations.
