Cairo- Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli gave approval Sunday for the re-opening of book stores, cultural festivals and theatre performances in open spaces with a 50 percent capacity while taking all precautionary measures in coordination with the Ministry of Health and all bodies concerned.
The prime minister’s approval came at the request of Culture Minister Enas Abdel Dayem, according to a statement published on the cabinet’s Facebook page yesterday.
Minister Abdel Dayem said that holding such events in open spaces would largely contribute to the promotion of the culture and arts industry and would also support writers and publishers, in addition to creating new opportunities for marketing the cultural and artistic products.
The return of festivals, she said, would help Egypt better communicate with the world, especially including African countries, through the soft power.
Minister Abdel Dayem also asserted the state’s willingness to bring cultural life back to normal in a way that highlights the value of soft power as a strategic factor for sustainable development.
