CAIRO – The Egyptian Cabinet’s media center has denied news about preventing students of public universities from taking their final exams if they fail to pay the tuition fees.
The center, in a statement Sunday, said it had contacted the Higher Education Ministry to verify the information, noting that the news is absolutely baseless. No such decision has ever been made, the Ministry stressed.
Public universities have, to the contrary, provided financial support for students who are unable to pay, whether tuition or dormitory fees, the Ministry made it clear.
It said that students should only provide documents that prove them truly incapable.
University students are set to take their final exams in June and July amid tight precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Students are also advised to receive Covid vaccine ahead of the exams.
The center urged all media outlets to verify any news from official sources so as not to create confusion. (MENA)
