Egypt’s Emigration Minister Soha El Gendi had talks on Wednesday with Zimbabwe’s Chief Immigration Director Respect Gono on means of promoting bilateral cooperation in illegal immigration domain, especially through training courses and spreading awareness in this regard.
During the meeting, Gendi reviewed the ministry’s efforts to take care of Egyptian expats’ affairs, referring to the ministry’s communication with Egyptians abroad during the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, the earthquake in Turkey and the Sudanese crisis.
She also referred to the ministry’s initiative “one hour with the minister” for meeting Egyptian expats via video conference.
She also highlighted the role played by the Ministry of Emigration Dialogue Center for Egyptian Youth Abroad (MEDCE) in keeping in touch with Egyptian youths abroad.
As for combating illegal immigration, she underlined the great efforts exerted under the presidential initiative “Life Saving Boats” to spread awareness about the dangers of illegal immigration.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe’s Gono said she is looking forward to signing a memorandum of understanding with Egypt to benefit from Egypt’s expertise in training workers in the immigration domain.
She urged Egyptian investors to do business in Zimbabwe, especially in the agricultural domain.
Gono voiced desire to operate direct flights between Cairo and Harare.
Meanwhile, Gendi invited Gono to participate in “Egypt Can by industry and trade in Africa”.
