CAIRO– Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) Abdel Moneim El Tarras said on Sunday that an agreement was signed with French giants Wamar Engineering SAS and Green Technology to transfer the technology of overhauling, maintaining and repairing gas and steam turbines to Egypt to be used at its power stations.
The deal comes as part of presidential directives to enhance Egypt’s industrial capabilities and transfer technologies used by global companies to Egypt, Tarras said.
The deal includes providing training courses for Egypt’s technical cadres in the field of turbine overhauls with a view to meeting the local market’s needs and expanding in the African and Arab markets in the future, he added.
For his part, Commercial Counsellor at the French Embassy in Egypt Philippe Garcia said the Egyptian market is a favourable destination for French investors and is of great strategic importance at the African and Arab levels.
Major French companies and businessmen are keen on transferring technology to the Egyptian market and participating in major projects being established in the country, Garcia said.
He praised the pivotal role played by the AOI to boost Egypt’s industrial sector and localize technology in accordance with the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) standards and digital transformation.
