Sales by exhibitors participating in the Diyarna Exhibition for Handicrafts have already reached LE2 million (about $129,000).
Visitors are infesting the different booths of the fair which is held at the Cairo Festival City Mall in New Cairo, despite the biting cold weather.
Exhibitors are parading a wide range of handmade products, including – among others – women’s accessories, carpets, embroideries, alabaster products and handbags for women.
The exhibition also contains new features this year, including workshops for handmade products. Some exhibitors are also offering the service of Arabic calligraphy writing on the different products for their clients.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity which organises the fair has imposed a series of preventive measures against Covid-19 since its opening, including mandatory facemasks.
Minister Neveen el-Kabaj opened the ongoing edition of the Diyarna Exhibition (the 61st one) on February 15, for ten days.
Around 300 exhibitors are taking part in the event which is held on 2,800 square meters of land. Some of the exhibitors are coming to the exhibition from places as far as the southern Governorate of Aswan to parade their handmade works.
