Egyptian Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem followed up on Tuesday the participation of the Ministry of Culture in the Decent Life initiative in Assuit, Upper Egypt. The ministry carries out artistic activities in the city aimed at highlighting the Egyptian identity and supporting the cultural role in Assuit.
This comes as part of directives made by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to implement the “Decent Life” initiative, which reflects the state’s keenness on improving living standards for its citizens nationwide and aims at achieving comprehensive development in various areas of life. Minister Abdel-Dayem followed up the creative activities of the initiative in the villages of Nazlat Al-Malik, Al-Shamiya, Al-Khawalid and Nazlet Bakhoum.
These activities were carried out by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the ministries of youth and sports and education as well as the National Council for Women and civil society groups in Assiut.
These activities will continue until the end of August.
For her part, Abdel Dayem stressed that the Decent Life initiative is one of the efforts aimed to develop the neediest rural regions nationwide by upgrading the services provided to citizens and improving the social, economic and environmental level of the targeted families.
The minister began her visit to the city by inspecting the artistic workshops of traditional crafts, including: carpets, tents, talli, handicrafts copper, ornaments, satin bags and ceramic.
This comes in addition to a storytelling workshop for children and folkore games from heritage, an exhibition of publications of the General Organisation of Cultural Palaces and some departments of the Ministry of Culture entitled “Let’s Read”, in addition to inaugurating “Talent Development Centre” in Assiut – which aims at discovering talented people in Assuit villages by organising training courses in the fields of “playing music, singing, ballet and folk arts”.
