Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Mohamed Abdel Ati Thursday followed up preparations for the 4th Cairo Water Week, slated for October of this year.
The theme of this year’s event, which is to be held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, is ‘Water, Population and Global Changes: Challenges and Opportunities’.
Cairo Water Week is intended to enhance communication between water organisations, water industries and regional and international bodies, the minister said, adding that this year’s edition will add to the successes of the previous editions since 2018.
“Cairo Water Week has become one of the largest gatherings on water and sustainable development in Egypt and the Middle East region,” the minister said. He added that the event comes within the framework of Egypt’s interest in water as an issue, which Egypt places on top of its political agenda, he said. “It is one of the most important requirements for economic and sustainable development,” he added.
Cairo Water Week is an opportunity to reach sustainable solutions for the management of water resources while considering population growth, he said. We also need to reach solutions that accommodate changes in land usage, climate and hydrological systems, he added.
The Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources organises Cairo Water Week in coordination regional and international partner organisations and local bodies.
