The British American Tobacco “BAT” sponsors “Waste Management Webinar” organized by BEBA Towards a sustainable management challenges and solutions. The event facilitated the dialogue to review the impact of waste accumulation and its drastic effects on the Egyptian community. The webinar explored the methodologies of sustainable waste management strategies and efficient business operations.
Commenting on BAT’s ongoing efforts towards a sustainable future, Jack Bowles, Chief Executive of British American Tobacco, said: “we are transitioning from being a business where sustainability has always been important to one where it is front and center in all that we do. I am proud that we have a strategy with sustainability embedded at its heart and I firmly believe it will lead to ‘A Better Tomorrow’ for our consumers, our employees, our shareholders and, undoubtedly, for society.”
Bowles added “BAT has fully embraced the priorities set out in early 2019 and has started to deliver against them. We are now challenging ourselves with a clear purpose to build A Better Tomorrow by reducing the health impact of our business through offering a greater choice of enjoyable and less risky products for our consumers.”
Liban Ahmed, General Manager of Medred Cluster at British American Tobacco, explained the importance of sustainability across the company’s business and activities, saying: “we underscore our commitment to our new sustainability agenda by announcing deploying new targets across the ESG landscape. Our ambition is to have 50 million non-combustible product consumers by 2030 and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, while bringing forward our existing 2030 environmental targets to 2025.”
