The “Bedaya – A New Beginning for Human Development” initiative has so far offered some impressive 114,094,316 services since it was launched, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population has said..Just over the past five days, the initiative provided 7,305,042 services, covering health, social support, education, and community development.The key achievements of the initiative in the Youth and Sports domain, over 307,000 participants have benefited from 3,472 activities. In Child Development Awareness, 46,189 individuals received guidance on the importance of the first 1,000 days of a child’s life.As for Social Support, assistance programmes benefited 20,198 citizens, while 85,430 received cash support cards under the “Takaful and Karama” (Solidarity and Dignity) programme.In addition, up to 577 disability identification cards were issued, and 6,545 individuals accessed rehabilitation services. Also the Rural Women Training Project provided vocational skills to 31,155 women. Moreover, in the Livelihood Support, 2.3 tonnes of meat were distributed on 2,339 beneficiary families, and 50 development convoys reached 24,572 citizens.
Expanding Health Services
Healthcare efforts included 58 medical convoys that provided services to over 5.3 million citizens. These encompassed medical treatment, family planning, pregnancy follow-ups, and child growth monitoring. In alignment with World Diabetes Day, free early detection and awareness campaigns were launched, targeting schoolchildren, parents, and elderly patients with Type 1 diabetes.Promoting education and cultural awareness“Bedaya” organised 609 cultural events, including workshops, theatrical performances, and museum tours, engaging 44,517 participants. Financial inclusion seminars educated 6,000 citizens, while 1,450 small and medium projects were funded to support youth and low-income families.
Tackling addiction and encouraging sustainability
Door-to-door campaigns reached 10,024 young people with awareness about addiction dangers, while workshops for students highlighted water conservation and climate change, engaging 2,730 students.
Strengthening vocational and employment opportunities
The initiative supported vocational training programs, English language courses, and professional development for 25 participants, and facilitated employment for 10 individuals with disabilities.
Legal and occupational empowerment
Mobile units provided document verification services to 3,319 citizens, while awareness sessions on smart justice reached 1,431 participants. Workplace safety and economic empowerment workshops benefitted 455 public sector employees.“Bedaya” exemplifies a holistic approach to human development, addressing health, education, social empowerment, and environmental sustainability. Dr. Abdel Ghaffar reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for all Egyptians, noting that the initiative’s extensive outreach reflects its transformative impact across diverse communities.
