Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture el Sayyed el Qusair asserted that importance of benefiting from applied researches during COP 27 within the framework of the keenness of the International Centre for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) to cooperate with the Ministry of Agriculture in general and the Agricultural Research Centre (ARC) in particular.
This came during Qusair’s meeting with Director General of ICARDA Ali Abu Sabaa.
Qusair asserted the necessity of getting farmers to benefit from the outcomes of the researches at the different local and regional levels.
The meeting tackled means to benefit from the modern innovations for the strategic crops and the role played by the agricultural research centers at the national, region and international levels.
Qusair reiterated the importance of magnifying the benefit of such applied researched through getting farmers to depend on them in boosting sustainable agriculture out and adopting good agricultural practices to get the highest production of strategic crops so that the food gap would be decreased to achieve food security and increase the income of the farmers.
Meanwhile, Abu Sabaa asserted the importance of cooperation with the ARC to benefit from the outcomes of the international researches to find a way to overcome water challenges and food security via accessing new types with excellent quality, thus contributing to increasing the production of a number of strategic crops topped by wheat, lentils, soybeans and barely.
