Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el-Saeed said 509 projects were implemented in the Upper Egyptian governorate of Beni Sueif at LE7.3 billion investments.
The projects were carried out in eight sectors, including health, education, irrigation, local development, housing, transport, petroleum and electricity, from 2018 to 2020, according to the third report issued by the ministry.
As for state efforts to achieve the sustainable development goal on ending poverty and achieving food security, the report said 19 projects were implemented in irrigation and water resources at a total cost of LE237 million.
Moreover, 11 drinking water and sanitation projects were implemented at a total cost of LE995 million.
The report added that three health units were upgraded in three villages at LE13.4 million.
The report said that 57 pre-university education projects were carried out at total cost of LE332 million. Moreover, a technological university was established in Beni Suef at a cost of LE135 million.
The report added that nine electricity and renewable energy projects were carried out at LE 1.6 billion.
it noted that 88 projects were implemented to confront climate change and improve environment at a total cost of LE91.2 million.
