Egyptian Local Development Minister Hisham Amna said that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attached great importance to developing North Sinai in the various domains and sectors, along with improving services provided for citizens and securing jobs.
This came during his visit to Sheikh Zuweid city, accompanied by Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el-Saaed and North Sinai Governor Mohamed Abdel-Fadil Shousha.
The minister lauded the role played by the people of North Sinai in supporting the State’s plans and efforts to achieve development and improve the standard of living for citizens in various domains.
Minister Amna also stressed the importance of the role played by the employees of the executive apparatus of the governorate in implementing the investment plan projects and directives of the political leadership and the prime minister.
He referred to Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli’s decision to form a working group, headed by the Local Development Ministry, in co-operation and coordination with the Defense and Military Production Ministry, with the membership of all ministries and relevant authorities to develop an integrated vision for the development of North Sinai.
The minister further noted that the volume of projects implemented by the State in North Sinai governorate from 2014 to 2022 amounted to nearly LE31 billion, adding 904 projects were implemented in various sectors, including local development, education, housing, health, youth, sports and higher education.
He underlined that 262 projects are currently being implemented in a large number of basic fields, at a cost of about LE58 billion.
