Egypt’s Minister of Local Development Manal Awad held a meeting with Director of International Strategies at Esri Sohail Elabd.

Esri is a leading global company specializing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

The talks focused on exploring key areas and proposals for future cooperation, particularly in enhancing the Egyptian Cities Atlas and strengthening the use of GIS technologies in monitoring and analyzing spatial changes.

The talks also touched on supporting the Ministry of Local Development in several ongoing programs and operational files.

The meeting took place today at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, with the presence of CEO of Esri for North Africa Hassem Hameda.

During the meeting, Awad expressed deep appreciation for the support Esri has provided to the ministry in recent years.

This collaboration has significantly contributed to improving the quality of services delivered to citizens across the governorates through the application of GIS and various software solutions offered by the company.

As a result of these efforts, the ministry was honored with the 2025 Special Achievement in GIS (SAG Award) at the Esri International User Conference held in San Diego in California.

For his part, Elabd praised the vital role the ministry plays in managing essential public services on daily basis.

He reaffirmed Esri’s readiness to continue its cooperation with the ministry and governorates, leveraging the company’s extensive experience in local development to provide innovative solutions, streamline public services and advance Egypt’s geospatial infrastructure.
