The Ministry of Awqaf has announced that late-night or Tahajjud prayers will be allowed as of the night of Ramadan 27 until the end of the holy fasting month.
The ministry said in a statement on Monday that I’tikaf (seclusion in mosques for a period of time in Ramadan) will still be prohibited.
The decision has been approved by the health ministry and all bodies concerned at the committee tasked with the management of pandemics.
Meanwhile, head of the Religious Sector at the Ministry of Awqaf Hisham Abdel Aziz said the ministry is very keen to hold Taraweeh prayers in an atmosphere of calm and tranquility for worshipers.
